Address Verification System (AVS)

The 'Address Verification System (AVS)' verifies whether or not the street number and zip code of a provided billing address match those in the billing address on record for that credit card. Because the billing address that is stored on the card is not transferred from the card when it is manually entered, requiring that a billing address be included provides an added level of security. The checking the Check box in the 'Address Verification System (AVS)' section will require a billing address to be provided. You can then choose to 'Process and Hold' or 'Deny' a transaction based on a minimum threshold amount you set for one of three scenarios in which the address is mismatched. To do so:

  • Select the Check box to require that a billing address be included when processing manually entered (non-swiped) transactions.
  • Choose 'Process and Hold', 'Deny' or 'Ignore this Setting' from the drop-down on the left for each scenario.
  • Enter a threshold amount in the 'Minimum Threshold' field to the right of each mismatch scenario.

Credit Card Security Codes(CVV/CCV/CID)

Using CVV/CCV/CID codes to verify that the card being used, is itself valid, is another way to ensure that the credit card account being used for the transaction is valid. These CVV/CCV/CID codes identify the issued card for the account and are usually included in a swiped transaction, but is only included if entered in a manual transaction. When you enable the Credit Card Security Codes(CVV/CCV/CID) feature on the PayHub Virtual Hub the entry of a Credit Card Security Code will be required. Virtual Hub will then check for a match against the Credit Card Security Code on file for that card and process according to the rule you set if it doesn't match. To do so:

  • Select the Check box to require a CVV/CCV/CID be included when processing manually entered (non-swiped) transactions.
  • Choose 'Process and Hold', 'Deny' or 'Ignore this Setting' from the drop-down on the left to choose what to do when there is a mismatch and the Minimum Threshold you set is met.
  • Enter an amount in the 'Minimum Threshold' input field to determine when to apply the selection you made from the drop-down if there is a mismatch between the CVV/CCV/CID you provided and that on record for that card.
