Voice Authorizations

  • Voice authorization is used to authorize credit sales when you cannot use your normal means of processing or running authorizations, this is done through a phone system by calling a Voice Authorization number.
  • Authorized transactions verify that the specified amount is available on the customer's credit card and places a hold on that amount at the customer's bank. For voice authorization a hold is placed for up to 30 days and must be put through a terminal afterwards to capture the sale.

  • Note: If the merchant cannot run American Express cards on their terminal normally they will not be able to run it on voice authorization until they have American Express added to their account.
  • Before you call the authorization number you will need to write down:
    • Card number
    • Exp. Date
    • Amount
  • Then you will call the authorization number, enter the Merchant ID#, choose the option for sale, enter the above info.
  • You will NEED to record the authorization number (Authorization number is alphanumeric and six characters)
  • Voice Authorization number: 800-226-1007 Use V number as MID (i.e. V5370793 = 75370793, v=7), if you do not know the v# to use, please contact PayHub or your Merchant Service Provider for this information.
  • Remember to maintain all information written down from above or you will experience issues trying to capture the transactions.
  • Once the above is complete you will need to run an offline transaction through the Virtual Huband then batch out to capture the sale(s).
